Sigh. What a way to end 2005. In camp. Best of all, it is finally my platoon's turn to do our standby duties. Meaning anytime there's "borrrrrr - warning signal ringing", we have to get our all stuff ie. field packs, rifles etc etc ready and chiong to the parade square. A check will then be conducted to ensure all of our items are in good and NEW condition, how stupid considering if we're preparing to go to war, what good is new stuff. Anyways, its just it. Standby!
On top of it, our unit also has our recall manning this week! Of all times, it must be this week, until 3rd Jan '06. So most likely, we are all speculating a mobilisation on the 31st Dec, Sat. Best day to have it. Not a public holidays so they would not trouble the other NSman much and being on a weekday is quite immpossible. And I have to do sai gang even! What detactment 2IC. Needing me to call up those in my detactment which adds to about 11 person in all. So i'll be on the phone like :"Hello Mr So-and-So, this is Pte Chiam Jielun. This is to notify you that you have been mobilised and are requested to return back to camp ASAP. Good bye."
And i read my 2nd book! Nurul's pretty happy that she got ME to read a book! Cause she think's if my library card is with her, it is pretty much hopeless that I'll ever read one. Back to the book, it's title is "Battle Royale". Not sure how many of you heard of it before. But I remember hearing the sypnosis of the movie once and when she told me she had the book, i knew Ii definitely had to get my hands on that book too! To cut a long story short, the book is about the Republic of Greater East Asia, whose flag is mostly red, ahem ahem. To stop uprising etc etc, the introduced this programmes to 3rd year junior high school students, meaning 15 year olds or sec 3 students. The praogramme randomly selects a class out of the so many, what luck, and this unlucky class is put on an island and they have to kill, yes you read right it is KILL, each other until there is only 1 survivor left. They are provided an assortment of weapons to do that. Well, let's just say there's a surprising twist in the end. Do read the book if you're interested. Not just for the killing but for the idealogial and psychological aspects of this amazing triller. Can be bought at Kinokuniya at a cost of $30 =] (sounds like I'm some kind of promoter for it, but hey, its nice!)
Did i mention about the unit anniversary thingy we had at Big Splash last Fri? Well, its seems our unit has turn 37 and so we celebrated it at Big Splash! It was quite a pathetic place but oh well. I stil turned up in hope of winning something at the lucky draw. The food was pretty good for catering. I must say I'm rather impressed with the caterer, but I forgot to take note of it's contact, probably some Phua or Poh's Catering. Anyways, there was this dance segment where 2 bikini clad ladies shaked their way to "Don't Cha" and better still, after that was a lap dance . 2 lucky souls had it, and only 2. Of course it wasnt me. But it was really some hot action, 2 guys perspiring like hell and 1 was even striped to his boxer shorts and that's an officer! The lucky draw? It was lucky for only those numbers starting wif 82xx. More than half of the 20 prizes went out to those numbers. Including the top prize of a iPod Video. So once again, i proved luckless at lucky draws.
Cant wait for this time of the year again next year. Cause it'll mean that I'm going to ORD soon! Woot. Curse those Jan batch of BMT enlistees. Their ORD is now only 9 freaking months away! Not even a year! How can mine be compared? It's still 1 year 3 months away. Never mine, over the course of my week in camp, I shall think through some new year resolutions and set my mind to make them happen. And so, my last week of the year in camp~ What a way to end it. And to rub salt onto wounds, maybe I'll just be home again. Sigh, never mind. It's a new year ahead man! 2006, here we come~~~~~~~~~~~
